This is STEMi Makers Africa— the STEM education social enterprise transforming lives in Nigeria

STEM is an emerging platform that should be embraced in Nigeria and Africa at large. An Integration of STEM Education results to a Sustainable Economy and a better Nigeria.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Innovation Makers of Africa (STEMi Makers Africa) is an organization that provides STEM developmental tools and establish young Africans as catalysts to embrace STEM pathways. The organization aims to generate a talent base of global leaders needed to create tomorrow’s innovation for the betterment of all citizens.

STEMi Makers Africa have designed sustainable and implementable projects in 72 underserved Communities across 13 Sub-Saharan countries by preparing the next generation of innovators with free access to STEM pathway resources, tools and Professional Development.

STEMi Makers Africa is focused on creating a propelling atmosphere where Africans can make a difference and function in their aspirations without any barrier or continental limitation. Science, as a strong contributor to innovation and prosperity; cannot afford to lose any talented individual. Emphasizing STEM across Africa is imperative in today’s world. Our mission also aligns with SDGoals 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17.

STEM is blending curriculum to teach students “21st-century skills,” or tools they need to have if they wish to succeed in the workplace of the “future.” 80% of the fastest growing occupation in the world depend upon mastery of mathematics, scientific knowledge and skills, but students are not properly equipped to satisfy this growing need.

About the Founder

Amanda Obidike, the Strategy Lead/Founder of STEMi Makers Africa, is a 2019 Global WACREN awardee and The MAI Woman in Technology, is recognized for her passion in raising leaders through STEM and successfully championing diversity in digital literacy for the African child. She earned the Most Influential, Best Leadership and Top 20 Most Exceptional Leadership award, YALI RLC, Accra, West Africa.

In her words, “STEM Education plays a global role in Africa’s competitiveness and producing innovative economic leadership, this is the reason why we chose the work we are doing. We are also passionate about the future economic growth and prosperity of Africa as it depends on an aligned education system that supports developmental efforts and empowers students to become innovators and nation builders. We look forward to building Strong Foundations for STEM Literacy​, preparing the STEM Workforce for the Future and Increasing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEM.”

The team behind STEMi

STEMi Makers Africa make up a team of passionate people in Nigeria who has helped champion the STEM movement and created STEM Initiatives. They are Nelson Izah (IT, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Lead), Kylie Caleb Obidike (Communications and Program Lead), Chinonso Nwanevu (Partnership Lead).
