#EndRapeInWar | Nobel laureates, Dr. Denis Mukwege of Panzi Hospital in Congo and Nadia Murad of Nadia’s Initiative, join forces to create Global Survivors Funds for victims of sexual violence in conflicts
We are so inspired to see the 2018 Nobel laureates, Dr. Denis Mukwege of Panzi Hospital in Congo and Nadia Murad of Nadia’s Initiative create a platform, The Global Survivors Funds organizations, for survivors of sexual violence in war.
The Global Survivors Funds organizations launched October 30, 2019 at the UN (United Nations). It was the official announcement of the Global Survivors Fund. The Fund is an innovative, survivor-centric mechanism which aims to ensure survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) have access to reparations and other forms of redress.
During the launch, Dr. Denis stated, “We want to eradicate CRSV once & for all. This kind of violence should not exist. This fund should not have to exist. States should protect women & victims should be helped to reintegrate into society. We all know all of this… Global Survivors Fund represents solidarity and responsibility… survivors will hear ‘You are a victim of atrocity, so we will hear your voice and we will help you resume to your life… The Global Survivors Fund establishes a direct way for survivors to have access to reparations. It will change individuals, families, and communities all around the world.”

Today marks a beginning of new chapters in lives of survivors of CRSV.”
After the launch, France pledged to contribute € 6.2 millions to the fund.
