A group of young Nigerian’s, are set to try their hands on United Nations issue all in an effort to change the world.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation of the United Nations that requires students and participants from around the focal areas to act as delegates for countries, NGOS or other organizations within the UN; and deliberate on various topics which may be current global issues to try and find resolutions and recommendations for ameliorating such issues.
The Lagos Model United Nations (LMUN) is the first of its kind organised by a University in Nigeria and the African Sub Region.
LMUN is a collegiate simulation of the functions of the United Nations where delegates will come together to discuss issues affecting the world in a global context.
Through the conference, delegates are able to gain both a deeper understanding of the issues and solutions before the international community and a firm commitment to achieving the goals of the United Nations.
With one voice, one language and one mind, it is scheduled to take place in August 2016 at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos; 700 DELEGATES | 10 TOPICS |193 COUNTRIES | ONE VOICE | ONE WORLD
The theme for this year’s conference is, One World: United for Peace and Sustainability. As usual, delegates are divided into different committees representing different countries and addressing topics in their committees which will reflect and espouse the positions of their assigned countries in relation to the topic before the committee.
Just so you know, the Model United Nations program is a very big deal. It has been attended by Ban Ki-Moon; current UN Secretary-General and even Samuel L. Jackson; television and film actor, producer – So this is a big deal for the University of Lagos.
